What are the standards?

They're basically the AA's Commandments of Gold Standard customer service - making sure you get looked after both before and after sale to create peace of mind and a stress-free experience.

What are the promises?

The dealer will......

  • Provide a minimum of 6 months MOT on all vehicles
  • Allow you to test drive any vehicle

  • Make sure every vehicle is in good condition
  • Provide V5 registration and service records where available

What to do if there is a problem

If you encounter an issue with a vehicle purchased from an AA Cars dealer, or need assistance with your warranty, here's how to proceed. AA Cars provides comprehensive support and mediation services to ensure your peace of mind.

Berkshire Car Planet AA Support

For any issue following the purchase of a vehicle, you must contact the AA Cars dealer directly to give them the first opportunity to resolve the matter. Clearly detail your concerns and what resolution you are seeking.

Service-Related Issues: If your concern is about the level of service received (not the vehicle itself), contact the dealer and ask to speak with an authorised Customer Service Manager or someone with equivalent responsibility.

If you have registered for your 12 months' free Basic Breakdown Cover (or Upgrade) and your vehicle breaks down, call the AA on their standard breakdown number.

All vehicles purchased through AA Cars include 12 months of free breakdown cover (or a member upgrade) as standard.

If you nominate someone to deal with a complaint on your behalf, you will need to provide the dealer with explicit authority to communicate with them. The intermediary will be treated in the same manner as the customer.

If your issue remains unresolved after contacting the dealer, AA Cars is happy to support you via our free mediation service.

Complaint Logging: Once you log a complaint with us, a member of our Complaint Team will contact you to discuss your concerns.

Liaison and Resolution: Our team will then liaise with you and the dealer, gather all relevant information and evidence from both parties, and determine the appropriate course of action in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

If you have followed the dealer's complaints process and are still unhappy, or have not received a response within a reasonable time, AA Cars can provide an impartial Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service to you free of charge.

To use this service, you will need to complete our online complaint form. This mediation process not only ensures dealers adhere to the Dealer Promise Code but also assists them in improving their service standards when necessary.

AA Cars was acquired in March 2018 and is a 100% owned subsidiary of the Automobile Association Group. With over 15 million members, the AA is the UK's largest motoring organization, operating for over a century since 1905.

Every vehicle listed comes with a detailed history check as standard, provided at no additional cost. Our dealers have committed to the AA Dealer Promise Code, ensuring customer safety and satisfaction.
